Writing Tip

A few weeks ago I read the book Alphas by Lisi Harrison. One of the chapters featured character Charlie (a female)and Allie J, going to a writing class. The chapter inspired me to create this exercise. It belongs to me (but I give full credit to Mrs. Harrison for inspiring it)

Write a scene, or take a scene from a story that you've written. Read it. Pay attention to descriptions used in the scene. Then draw a picture of what you see in the scene. Only draw what you read. If the scene says Sam was a very tall person. then draw a tall, genderless person

To make this exercise even more enlightening, have another person read and draw for you. This person doesn't know what you were thinking when you wrote the scene. They don't know what Sam looked like, or if Sam was a girl or boy

After drawing the picture, look at it and fix your writing. Make it more detailed accordingly.
Even better! Draw a picture of how you exactly envisioned the scene when you wrote it. Then write the scene. Use every detail that was in the picture. I hope that helps, and makes your writing more detailed than Ever!
